About Us

Our Mission

To provide a professional and personal network, advocate for inclusion and inspire future women in the automotive trades through outreach, training, support and education.

Who we are, how we began

In February of 1987, a group of female technicians and shop owners decided that they needed a support network of their own.  They began by meeting monthly and establishing a scholarship fund at Portland Community College and fundraising directly for it.  Gathering every month to network and work towards the business of improving positions and equity in the field for women, those founding members soon started offering car care clinics and workshops.  These workshops served not only to introduce young women to the idea and possibility of working in the automotive field , but also to help car owners communicate effectively about their vehicle and feel more confident as a car owner.
We have grown from that handful of women to a more formal non-profit but continue the work that was begun by that loose association.  Today we run car care workshops, fund several scholarships in several area colleges and provide speakers or table at events for young women.    We continue to meet monthly to not only continue our work in the community, but also to support each other.
